THE LONG RUN × HARRISON & YAYE THANE PROJECT JOURNAL
The Long Run
A living archive of
conservation, place & people.
Photography, film and stories
from The Long Run’s retreats.
A series of field residencies at Global Ecosphere Retreats®, building a shared body of photography, films, interviews and written stories for the properties and The Long Run.
By showing the places, people and work behind the 4Cs, the project gives travellers a fuller understanding of The Long Run and a reason to choose its properties for their next stay.
The aim is to grow awareness, support bookings and build a wider movement around travel that benefits nature and local communities. An organised archive supports each property’s communications, with the photography and stories also brought together in a shared coffee table book.
Two weeks of

The Long Run
The 4Cs.
The Long Run’s framework guides the research,
interviews and films at each retreat.
Habitats &
biodiversity.
Protecting ecosystems and biodiversity at scale, over time. The landscape, the wildlife, and the daily work of people who look after both.
Six story pillars.
Each retreat’s chapter follows the same six subjects, developed with its people and projects.
The book.
A coffee table book bringing The Long Run’s work together across its properties. Each retreat becomes a chapter, showing what it protects, who makes it work and how the 4Cs shape the place.
The book can be displayed at the properties, sold to guests to generate income, and given to partners, government officials and policymakers. It offers a lasting way to introduce The Long Run, support new relationships and bring its work to a wider audience.
The residencies, photography, films, written stories and book are developed together, with input from the retreats and The Long Run.
What each retreat
receives.
A practical media package for your retreat,
The Long Run, partners, press and future fundraising.

Practical details.
How does the project come together?
The field residencies create photography, films, interviews and written stories for the properties and The Long Run. The media archive and coffee table book are developed as part of the same project, bringing the work together across the collection.
How long do you spend at each retreat?
Each chapter is created through a two-week field residency, followed by editing, writing and archive preparation. Research and access planning happen before travel.
What can the archive be used for?
The same production serves the retreat, The Long Run and future editorial and fundraising use. It creates photography, films, interview material and a lasting, organised media library.
How do we choose the first chapters?
The project begins with three contrasting Global Ecosphere Retreats. Together, we consider seasonality, access, readiness, existing trips and the strength of each opening story.
